Put renewal in your operating calendar
Record the expiry date, billing contact and payment method in a place your team can access. Set your own reminders well before expiry. Do not rely on a single email notification or assume that a pending invoice has renewed the registration.
Expiry is not immediate release
The 2024 naming decision provides a 30-day grace period and renewal provisions. Check the current rules and your registrar’s terms before cancelling; an expired date does not mean the name is available to someone else.
Changing registrar is different from changing holder
Ask which operation you need before requesting a transfer. Keep authorisation codes private. For a holder change, use the official forms and obtain the required approvals rather than simply editing the account profile.
- Export the existing DNS records and note the nameservers.
- Confirm whether hosting and email stay with the old provider.
- Check access to both accounts and the contact email.
- After the change, compare WHOIS and DNS and test the website and email.
Voluntary transfer to a new holder
For changing the registered holder. Identify the current and new holders and the domains; both have signature and stamp fields. Changing registrars, hosting or DNS is a separate operation.

Avoid making every change at once
If possible, separate moving the registrar from changing hosting or mail. That makes faults easier to identify. Keep a record of the previous settings and agree a rollback plan with your providers before the change.
Request cancellation of a .ma domain

For the holder or their representative to request cancellation of the listed domains from ANRT. The holder and registrar have signature and stamp fields. Check the effect on the website and email beforehand: cancelling a domain goes beyond cancelling hosting.
